Workers install metal detectors at Tifton government building

TIFTON, GA (WALB) -

Now that Governor Deal has signed house bill 60 into place, better known as the gun bill, more communities are getting ready to install new security measures where people might carry guns.

The bill allows people to carry guns in government buildings and certain parts of airports. On Wednesday workers removed the doors to the  Charles Kent Administrative building in downtown Tifton while they installed new security measures that included metal detectors.

"One of the things that we are doing is bringing in metal detection and that kind of stuff and having the same kind of security that we have across the street at the court house," says County Manager Jim Carter.

Other measures put in place by the Tift County Sheriff could include having a deputy on duty during operating hours.
