Police: 'Abduction' was actually a domestic dispute

Three South Georgia children are safe with their mother after feuding parents set off a police search in what they thought was the abduction of the children.

Dougherty County Police say Robert Page of Worth County reported his three children had been kidnapped from the Acree Grocery Store around 5 p.m. Wednesday.

Authorities later found out Page's wife Desiree took the children back in an elaborate plan, after Robert Page took them from her last week. Officials said the two were in the middle of a divorce.

According to Police, Desiree formed a plan to take her children back with the help of one of her friends.

The friend (who was not named) asked Robert to go on a date with her, and he agreed. They decided to meet at a local supermarket, the Acree Grocery store.

Robert brought his kids along for the trip, and Desiree hid in the back of her friend's vehicle as it arrived.

The friend asked Robert to get something from the store while she waited outside, and he obliged. But as soon as he was out of sight, Desiree emerged from hiding and jumped into Robert's vehicle, speeding away with the children.

Turner County Sheriff's deputies later found the children with their mother at her home in Ashburn just after 6 p.m. the same day.

Dougherty County Police say no charges will be filed in the case.
