Albany announces sewage spill

Assistant Albany City manager Wes Smith says that the city of Albany discovered a  'dry weather overflow' of raw sewage into the Flint River at its CSO outfall 004, near Mercer Avenue, due to human error.

The sewage overflow, which happened Tuesday, was estimated at 15,000 – 20,000 gallons.

The cause of the overflow has been corrected, Smith says.

The Environmental Protection Division has been notified, and the city has complied with all permit requirements.
