Ladaysha Jackson and Alexus Thomas, Worth County Students
WORTH CO., GA (WALB) -
Not all schools are closed for Memorial Day. Some Worth County parents and students were upset that they had school today.
Students in Worth County had a full day of school. School officials say it's been on the school calendar for over a year and was approved by school board members. Some students were upset saying today is a day for military families to spend time with one another.
"They should be able to be in contact with their parents on this day because this is their day," said Alexus Thomas.
"Like we are the only ones in school and everybody else is out for Memorial Day. I don't think its right to the people that have families in the Army," said Ladaysha Jackson.
School officials say parents can voice their opinions about the calendar at school board meetings. Good news for students…there won't be school next year on Memorial Day.
