ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

The Dougherty County High School Class of 1986 is helping a South Georgia graduate with college expenses.  

They held a car wash at Advanced Auto Parts in East Albany. Ricardo Sloan will attend Point University in West Point, Georgia this fall. He received a football scholarship and says he appreciates the support.  

"I'm a true Trojan. I am a hard worker. I'm very respectable and a nice young man. I appreciate everything their doing for me. I've been enjoying it, loving it and thanking God for every moment that their helping me and my mother," said Ricardo Sloan.  

Sloan will be doing 40 hours of community service work in East Albany as part of the deal. The Dougherty County High School Class of 1986 hopes other classes in the county will support recent high school graduates in the future.
