Douglas-Coffee Drug Unit makes multiple arrests

Information from the Douglas - Coffee Drug Unit-

On May 16th, Douglas Police Department officers observed a wanted fugitive on the streets of Douglas.  Officers approached the individual, identified as Kendrick Mizell, and arrested Mizell on an outstanding warrant for Terroristic Threats via Computer. 

During the course of the arrest, officers located 16 packages of marijuana (weighing ½ ounce) on Mizell's person.  Officers contacted the Douglas - Coffee Drug Unit regarding the drug offense.  DCDU detectives charged Mizell with Possession of Marijuana with Intent to Distribute.

On May 18th, DPD executed a search warrant regarding a theft case at a room in the Super 8 Motel in Douglas occupied by William Pridgen and Natalie Murray.  During the execution of the warrant, officers / detectives encountered two syringes believed to contain narcotics; officers contacted DCDU.  DCDU detectives arrived on scene and took possession of the syringes. 

A field test was conducted on the substances within the syringes.  Detectives discovered the substances to test positive for methamphetamine.

DPD charged Pridgen with Entering an Auto and 2nd Degree Burglary.  Pridgen also had an outstanding Bench Warrant for Obstruction of Law Enforcement Officers.  DCDU charged Pridgen and Murray with Possession of Methamphetamine.

On May 19th, DCDU executed a search warrant at 64 Live Oak Circle in Broxton.  This property was owned by Hubert Coates, and appeared to be Coates's "man cave".  Detectives discovered four packages of marijuana, weighing ¾ of an ounce.  Coates was currently on parole for kidnapping.

State of Georgia Parole Officers and DCDU detectives conducted an additional search at Coates's home at 542 Live Oak Circle in Broxton.  Detectives / Parole Officers discovered four weapons in Coates's home and over $900.00 cash.  Coates was arrested for Possession of Marijuana with Intent to Distribute and Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon.  Coates is also facing a Parole Violation.

On May 20th, DCDU K-9 officers initiated a traffic stop in Douglas on a vehicle occupied by Mitchell Meeks.  During the course of the traffic stop, officers discovered six packages of marijuana and six Hydrocodone tablets, better known on as Lorcet or Lortab.  Meeks was further found to be on State Probation for Burglary.

Following the traffic stop, DCDU conducted a search of his home at 317 W. Baker Hwy in Douglas.  Detectives discovered additional marijuana, 27 more Hydrocodone tablets of two varieties, a small quantity of suspected cocaine, a quantity of baggies used to package illegal substances and a set of digital scales.  Detectives also discovered Tiffany Ellis.  Ellis was found to be a wanted fugitive in Irwin County.

Meeks was charged with Possession of Marijuana with Intent to Distribute, (2) counts of Possession of a Schedule III Controlled Substance with Intent to Distribute and Possession of Cocaine.  Ellis was immediately transported to Irwin County and released to Irwin Co. Sheriff's Office.

On May 21st, DCDU K-9 officers initiated a traffic stop outside of Ambrose on a vehicle occupied by Mario Veloz.  During the course of the traffic stop, K-9 officers discovered 10 pounds of marijuana.  Veloz was arrested for Trafficking Marijuana.
