Lanier County Primary School held a parade Thursday morning to kick off the final academic pep rally of the year and to show support for the large military presence in the community.
Lanier County Primary students marched from their school, down the street to the Lanier County High School gym where the pep rally was held.
The school holds a pep rally every nine weeks to celebrate students' academic achievement throughout the year. Before the students received their awards, some of the students whose parents are currently serving in the military decorated a may pole with their parents.
"We want [the members of the military] to feel the appreciation," said Terrene Richardson, Principal at Lanier County Primary School. "We want them to know how important they are and we hope that it can boost their spirits and make them feel even better about what they do."
this is the 13th year Lanier County Primary School has held these academic pep rallys.
