Chehaw plans to open RV park next year

ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

This time next year Chehaw Park could have a lakefront R-V park.

Crews are installing a sewer system, which is a first for that part of the county.

Chehaw Executive Director Doug Porter says they have a great view of the lake, but they're limited because they only run on septic tanks.

Over the next several months workers will install a sewer line and a pump station.

Once that's complete people traveling by RV will be able to stop in Albany and stay the night.

"We think by giving them a very attractive property on the waterfront on lake chehaw and a full service camping spot that they would have sewer and electrical and they can hook up to wifi and have all the things that they need to run their big motor homes," says Executive Director Doug Porter.

They hope this will encourage more people to spend their time outdoors.
