ALBANY, GA - (WALB) -

In the Dougherty County School Board district four race Melissa Strother easily defeated Darton State College Economics Professor Aaron Johnson with 69 percent of the vote.

Strother is a graphic designer and homemaker who previously ran for Albany City Commission.     She celebrated Tuesday night with family and friends.

She said she learned lessons learned in her first political campaign that helped her this time.  "I just really want to thank everyone for their support, because that is why I am here today", said Strother. "And I look forward to returning that service to our community."

The seat is being vacated by Carol Tharin.       Strother will take office at the first of the year.
