Longtime Dougherty Commissioner unseated

ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

Longtime Dougherty County Commissioner Jack Stone lost his bid for re-election today.

In the District 6 race, Stone was defeated by Anthony Jones with a 300 vote difference. 

In the commission chairman race, political newcomer Chris Cohilas defeated former Commissioner Gloria Gaines, and Melissa Strother won the District 4 seat on the Dougherty County School Board.

She defeated Aaron Johnson with 69 percent of the vote.

Patrick Garner defeated Tracey Taylor for the Democratic nomination for District 4 County Commission. Garner picked up 65 percent of the vote.

He will now face Republican incumbent Ewell Lyle in November.
