ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

Minor repairs are already needed at the new terminal at Southwest Georgia Regional Airport.

Less than 10 months after the terminal opened hairline cracks are developing on the drywall near the women's restroom and above the car rental signs. Airport officials say they could be caused by the building settling or variations in temperature or humidity. The aviation commission voted to instruct the contractor to fix the problems.

"They are very small cracks and they probably don't bother a lot of people but we're just getting rid of them just because it doesn't look nice. The area will have to be repainted. It'll have to be mudded up as what they call it, fill in the crack and sand it down and repaint it," said Yvette Aehle, Southwest Georgia Regional Airport Director.

A structural engineer says the cracks pose no danger. The contractor is responsible for fixing the problems up until August 8th which is the first anniversary of the opening of the building.
