CRISP COUNTY, GA (WALB) -

A new addition to the Crisp County Sheriff's Office makes them storm ready. A personal weather station has been installed and approved by the National Weather Service.

The stations are common at airports in large cities, but not so common in communities such as Crisp County.

It will monitor current conditions, help confirm severe weather, and could help save lives.

"Sometimes their radars don't quite detect an accurate amount of rain falling here or an accurate amount of what the storm is actually doing, so this is going to give them a tool that will allow them to better look at Crisp County," said Billy Hancock Crisp County Sheriff.

The station was paid for with money confiscated during drug arrests.
