FL murder suspect arrested in Lowndes Co.

LAKE PARK, GA (WALB) -

During a first appearance before a judge Monday afternoon in Lowndes County, Daphedron Lamar Allen waived his right to an extradition hearing. He'll be sent back to Hamilton County, Florida soon to face charges that he murdered Frank Carl Jones, III in Jasper, Florida around midnight Sunday.

But by lunch time Sunday, Allen had been arrested by Lowndes County Sheriff's Deputies, thanks to coordinated efforts by three different law enforcement agencies in Florida, including the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office.

"I think it's just a great example of the teamwork law enforcement shows each other, cooperating with three different agencies out of Florida and then our agency here," remarked Lowndes County Sheriff's Office Lieutenant Stryde Jones.

During their investigation Sunday, the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office learned that Allen had apparently been dropped off at a motel in Lake Park. Investigators then notified the Lowndes County Sheriff's Office that Allen may be in their jurisdiction.

Allen was dropped off at the Western Motel on Timber Drive in Lake Park. A couple hours later, deputies spotted him walking in the parking lot and arrested him."

"We were able to confirm that he was at the motel, and while we were conducting surveillance he actually come out of the motel and was walking in the parking lot and that's when our investigators and deputies were able to arrest 'em," Jones explained.

Allen will be extradited to Hamilton County within the next ten days. He is currently charged with second degree murder.

Sheriff Chris Prine provided this news release-

On Sunday morning, investigators from the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office, Florida Department of Law Enforcement and Third Judicial Circuit State Attorney's Office began the investigation of the murder of Frank Allen which occurred in Jasper on Sunday, May 18 shortly after midnight.

During their investigation, investigators identified Daphedron Lamar Allen as a suspect and an arrest warrant for the offense of Second Degree Murder was subsequently issued. The investigators discovered that following the shooting, Daphedron Allen may have been dropped off at a motel in Lake Park.

Hamilton County immediately notified the Lowndes County Sheriff's Office of the investigation and developments. Deputies and investigators responded to the area of Timber Drive in Lake Park and shortly thereafter observed Daphedron Allen walking in the parking lot of the motel. Daphedron Allen was arrested without incident and taken to the Lowndes County Jail.

Daphedron Allen will appear in the Lowndes County Magistrate Court Monday afternoon for an arraignment hearing where his extradition to Florida will be considered.

Both Sheriff Chris Prine and Sheriff Harrell Reid expressed that this investigation was ongoing and additional arrest may be possible.
