International pilots in Americus for hang gliding competition

AMERICUS, GA (WALB) -

Dozens of Hang gliding pilots from around the world are in Americus for a week long competition.

The Flytech Americus Cup kicked off today at the Southerfield Aviation Center in Americus. More than 40 pilots will travel 102 miles into the sky. One competitor says he's been flying for 35 years.

 "It's about the best sport out there. It's beautiful, fun, exhilarating, peaceful, it's everything. It's a really fun sport," said Kevin Dutt, competitor.  

The winners will qualify to be on the world hang gliding team. The public is invited to come and watch the competition between noon and 3:00 p.m., which ends on Saturday.
