ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

Some Dougherty County High School students are celebrating an important milestone today.

Monroe Comprehensive High School kicked off their high school graduation ceremonies at the Albany Civic Center. Hundreds of graduating seniors proudly walked the stage to receive their diplomas. Students say their excited to start college and make a difference in their community.

"Following graduation I'll be taking Criminal Justice and Law at Albany Technical College and in August I'll be enlisting in the Air Force," said Desmond Brown, Monroe H.S. Graduate.      

"I plan on going to the Air Force and majoring in Nursing," said Precious Fowler, Monroe H.S. Graduate.  

Dougherty County School Superintendent, Dr. David Mosely, says about seven out of every 10 high school seniors in Dougherty County are graduating this year.
