Don't be fooled by money order scam

Counterfeit money orders are popping up in Sylvester.

About a dozen of these fake money orders have been delivered through the mail. They arrive in priority mail envelopes from the Evaluation Company and they look real. All of them have been for less than one thousand dollars.

"The company is legit, but they are copying this legitimate company and sending them out. What they ask you do to is deposit this into your checking account and to deduct money out to send to them," said Detective Washington.

If you receive one of these phony money orders in the mail, investigators say it's best to turn it over to police so they can track down the sender.
