ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

Dougherty County and Albany law enforcers gathered Thursday to honor officers killed in the line of duty.

Mayor Dorothy Hubbard and family members of fallen officers joined them at this year's Law Enforcement Memorial Ceremony.

Jackie Rouse, the mother of Dougherty County Police Lieutenant Cliff Rouse, spoke about the healing process after her loss.

"I don't care what department they serve in, thank them for what they do. Their lives are put on the line everyday. They may not come back home to their families at the end of their shifts. But just thank them, shake their hands and tell them you love them. "

Lieutenant Cliff Rouse was gunned down responding to an armed robbery in 2010.

At the end of the ceremony, family members pinned white carnations on wreaths in honor of the fallen heroes.
