Gunfire Locks Down School

A Dougherty County School was locked down for a short time Thursday morning after someone fired at a moving car near the facility.

Albany Police say three people riding inside a car on South McKinley Street heard three gunshots near the intersection of Corn Avenue.   They drove on, but when they got home they found bullet holes in the car.

Dougherty County School Police Chief Troy Conley says the Exceptional Students Center in the 700 block of Corn Avenue was briefly placed on lockdown.

Both Albany and Dougherty County School Police searched the area, but did not find anyone with a gun.

The investigation is continuing.
