ALBANY, GA - (WALB) -

Hundreds of shoppers crowded South Georgia Harvey's grocery stores Wednesday, looking for bargains.

As part of their transition to new ownership, ten Harvey's will close Saturday for renovation, and re-open in a week. Wednesday hundreds of people crowded the Albany stores, which put much of their products on sale for 50 to 75 percent off, to clean off their shelves.

Barbara Sisroe and her family loaded up on turkey, chicken, and fruits, and says she will continue to be a Harvey's loyal shopper.

"I sure will," said Sisroe.  "Harvey's has been in the family I know for the past 50 years. I shopped at Harvey's with my grandmother when I was 5 years old."

The six Harveys in Albany, one in Cordele, and one Sylvester will close May 17th and re-open May 24th. They will then officially join the Bi-Lo Holdings family of supermarkets.
