First responders bowl to honor fallen law enforcers

ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

Area first responders had some fun tonight while honoring a couple of fallen officers.

The Albany Police Department hosted its second annual "Rolling with First Responders" bowling competition at All-American Fun Park. The event was in honor of Dougherty County Police Lt. Cliff Rouse  who was killed by a robbery suspect in December 2010 and Albany Police officer Terry Lewis Fleming who was killed 10 months later in a crash while chasing robbers.

"There was an entry fee for them to participate and part of that entry fee goes to one thing our unit does is community events and on June 14th we're hosting our fourth annual day in the park. So part of the proceeds will go for that," said Albany Police Detective Chanita Salyer.

10 teams made up of bowlers from APD, the Dougherty County Sheriff's Office, and the Albany Fire Department competed tonight. This week is law enforcement memorial week.
