Hundreds of dollars in trailer tires taken from Lincoln Co. business

LINCOLNTON, NC (WBTV) -

Investigators in Lincoln County say someone has been taking trailer tires and wheels from trailers parked at TRT Trailer Sales at 3302 Gastonia Highway.

Employees reported the theft early Monday morning when they arrived for work and discovered the missing items, accorinding to the Lincoln County Sheriff's Office.

Detectives say it appeared that someone cut a trail through the woods near the business and carried the tires and wheels to Gaston Hillside Road and a waiting vehicle.

A total of 18 wheels and tires valued at approximately $850 were taken.  The thieves also caused $225 in damage to a trailer fender.  

Detectives believe the incident occurred sometime between 1 p.m. Saturday and 7 a.m. Monday morning.
