WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) -

The Wilmington Police Department plans to test the expanded Shotspotter coverage Tuesday evening.

Residents living around Mercer Avenue, Forest Hills, the 600 block of North 23rd Street, East Wilmington, and the Turnkey area should expect to hear gunfire around 6 p.m.

Officials advise that these gunshots are simply tests being conducted by the WPD. Residents should still be on the look out for any suspicious activity during the tests.
