AFD stresses water safety

With summer coming, more people will be in the water.

Fire officials say it's important to practice safety in all types of waters.

Not too long ago a family had to be rescued from the Georgia Power Dam while fishing.

That's an area the Albany Fire Department Rescue Dive team can help.

"Chief Carswell said if anybody needs us and we can help, then we're going to be there. That's one thing with the dive team. It allows us to help people out," said Assistant Chief Keith Ambrose.

Officials say always wear a life vest when in the water.
