Nurses donate to charities

ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

Some nurses are giving back to their community during a time when they're being recognized.

The nursing staff of Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital presented checks to three charities Monday as part of the annual Nurses Week celebration.

Nurses behind the donation say there's nothing more rewarding than giving back to their community.

"In the past the hospital has presented us with gifts and parties and things like that. But with the difficult times that everyone is going through, we really want to just give back to our community," said Cherie Duncan, RN.

The nurses gave $1,000 each to Mission Change, Liberty House and Graceway Recovery.
