VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) -

Valdosta's community pool will be open in just a couple of weeks, and parks and rec officials want to make sure you stay safe when you're at the pool.

The pool, which is located at the Mildred Hunter Center on Fry Street, officially opens May 27th. And for the first time, swim lessons will be offered at the pool this Summer. The Valdosta Lowndes Parks and Rec Authority is urging everyone to have fun, but be careful while at the pool.

"The most important thing is being safe," said Andre Newson, Mildred Hunter Center Coordinator. "We all want to make sure that whatever program we offer, it's a safe environment for people to come and enjoy."
