VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) -

Second Harvest food bank in Valdosta was still collecting all the food donated in the weekend's Stamp Out Hunger food drive.

So far, the food bank has collected 172,000 pounds of food. Volunteers haven't collected all the food from all of the post offices who participated in the food drive, so the amount of food collected is expected to increase.

The food bank says this food is much needed right now to help them prepare for when students get out of school for the Summer.

"Families who are already struggling with budgets and trying to make ends meet now have to deal with paying for childcare and paying for breakfast and lunch that they might not have been paying for before," explained Eliza McCall, Second Harvest Chief Marketing Officer.

If you didn't have a chance to participate in the food drive but would still like to donate, visit www.feedingsga.org.
