ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

Singers, dancers, and mime artists competed at Albany State University for a spot in the Gospel's Best Talent Showcase next month.

On June 1st finalists will share the stage with gospel artists like James Fortune and William Murphy.

Competitors will compete for more than $5,000 in cash prizes, plus a chance to sign with a record label.

"We are really just trying to start this show because a lot of times people don't get a chance to go to Atlanta to Audition so we wanted to bring all the record companies and executives here so that we can get a chance to see what we have here in Southwest Georgia," says organizer Lawrence Knighton.

The finale will be June 1st at 5 pm at the Albany Civic Center. You can purchase tickets at Odyssey Records.
