    APD reports that officers got a tip that a wanted person was “hiding out” at 708 North Jackson Street. Offices went to that location and confirmed the suspect was there. They said they found Wanda Harris hiding under a bed and arrested her, then notified DCP.More >>

SYLVESTER, GA (WALB) -

Sylvester's new Walmart Supercenter will open soon.

The building itself is finished. Some of the store's 160 workers are now putting on finishing touches and stocking shelves.

Some local retailers initially tried to organize to keep Walmart out of Sylvester, but the store manager says the world's largest retailer will be good for the area. Jennifer Calhoun said, "Just the sales tax revenue alone will do nothing but help this community thrive and grow, and we are very excited to be here and bring a great service to the citizens of Sylvester so they can save money and live better."

The 69,000 square foot store on East Franklin Street will include a full grocery store.

It will open on June 4th.
