LED signs to stay around in Tifton

Posted: Updated:
ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

Businesses in Tifton will now follow new rules for LED signs. City leaders say the electronic signs can be distracting to drivers.

Monday, the city council passed an ordinance that strengthens some regulations and loosens others.

"I'm so glad this passed. Our signs help us as business owners to promote our business. This sign right here run 24-7 and it's the best advertisement I've got," said Allen Peugh, owner of Red Bird Etc.

Messages on the signs must now be displayed for at least 7-seconds. Those messages can now blink which wasn't allowed before.
