ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

It's just the middle of spring, but Friday's heat and humidity made it feel like a South Georgia summer day.

We're used to 90 degree plus afternoons here, but some of us can't adjust to the rapid changes as easily as others.

You need to be careful not to overheat, especially since our annual battle against the heat is just beginning.

"We've gone directly into summer like temperatures, so people are outside enjoying the weather and may not realize actually how hot it is and dangers these heat conditions could be for certain people in particular," said Brenda Greene District Deputy Health Director.

In addition to making sure children and the elderly are safe, it's also good to make sure your outdoor pets have plenty of water and shade.
