VSU "Give and Go" program helping give back to South Georgians
VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) -
Students and teachers at Valdosta State University are working together to help the less fortunate and the environment.
This is the third year for the Give and Go program organized by Sociology professor Tom Hochschild. As the semester ends, volunteers collect all sorts of used items that students might otherwise throw away.
The drive just started Wednesday and has already had good results.
"We've been really successful this year. Last year, we collected six cargo vans full of items all together. And we're already at about five vans and we're still collecting today and tomorrow," said Hocschild.
The program will run from 10 until two tomorrow. Anyone is welcome to donate. The items will be given to Second Harvest of South Georgia, which will distribute them to families in need.
