After the Darton State Cavaliers and ABAC Stallions each dropped Thursday afternoon games, the two teams met with their seasons on the line.
At the end of the day, it was the Cavs moving on with a 4-3 win.
The game was tied 3-3 in the bottom of the seventh, when Tay Jerger hit a one-out double.
After a popout and a passed ball, Jerger moved up to third with two outs.
Trey Haygood then outran a slow grounder to short to keep the inning alive and allowing Jerger to give the Cavs the lead.
Scot Hemmings turned to closer Davis Adkins with one out in the ninth.
Adkins plunked the first batter he faced to put runners on second and third with one out.
He recovered by forcing Cole Bruce to popout on a flair shot behind second. Haygood made the grab and flipped to second for the game-ending double play.
The Cavaliers will try to stay alive again Friday when they take on Gordon State at 3:30. The winner of that game will play the loser of Georgia Perimeter and Middle Georgia.
