ASHBURN, GA (WALB) -

One of the newest additions to Ashburn is open for the summer and seeing lots of action.

The splash pad park in downtown Ashburn opened up for the first time last April.

The 2,700 square feet splash pad can hold 109 kids and has become a popular attraction for families.

Just across the street from the splash pad is the Tabernacle grounds.  City officials were just awarded a grant for more than $17,000 from the Georgia Department of Natural Resources to restore the historic tabernacle bunkhouse.

It's declining condition was becoming a hazard to the community and the historic structure was in jeopardy of being torn down.

This site is also the location of the Ashburn Farmers' Market scheduled to open later this month.
