Residents stunned after man and woman shot

ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

Family members say a South Albany woman is recovering following more than six hours of surgery after she was shot three times late Tuesday night near her home.

38 year old Gabina McCoy was shot in her right shoulder, right thigh, and lower right leg in the 600 block of Cherry Avenue.

37 year old Geno Johnson was also shot in the right thigh. He has since been released from the hospital.

A.J. Young says the couple only moved into the home a couple of weeks ago, and she heard the shots.

"It scares me, basically because this street has been quiet," said Young. "Don't nobody do nothing around here. I don't see why nobody want to shoot anybody around here."

Albany Police have released little information about the shooting, saying their investigation is continuing.
