A man and his ex-girlfriend are in the Decatur County jail after a wild melee in the middle of a neighborhood.  Three people are recovering from stab wounds.

Evidence from a bloody brawl that took place Tuesday evening remains on Monroe Street in Bainbridge.

Eleanor Gadson lives next door.  "They taped the whole area around, and I ran out and I seen her, she was laying on the porch," said Gadson.

Investigators say Roderick Hallmon drove by the home of his ex-girlfriend, Tracy Edwards, with his current girlfriend.  Police say when Edwards began throwing rocks at their car, Hallmon and his girlfriend stopped and confronted Edwards, who stabbed Hallmon in the leg.

"In an attempt to remove the knife from Edwards, Hall did receive some defensive wounds on his hands, after he regained control of the knife, he did stab Tracy Edwards in the neck," said Investigator Mark Esquivel.

The woman who lives next door to the female victim says she's always tried to steer her in the right direction, and that's why Tuesday's scene was so heartbreaking. "It made me feel real bad when I seen her stabbed, because she had just told me that she wouldn't do anything," said Gadson.

In the midst of the chaos Hallmon also stabbed Edwards' brother.  All three we're transported to the hospital with non life-threatening injuries. Esquivel says the whole scenario could have been avoided.

"Knowing what would happen, they should have kept driving, and just called police," said Esquivel.

Hallmon was arrested after being released from the hospital and both Hallmon and Edwards will be charged with aggravated assault.
