Burglars knock holes into businesses, take nothing

A mason works to patch the hole. A mason works to patch the hole.

An East Albany convenience store owner says he is frustrated, after crooks smashed a hole in the back of his store once again.

This is at least the third time crooks have smashed holes in the back wall of the Dixie Food Mart in the 1400 block of East Broad Avenue, to break in.

Police say about 4:00 Tuesday morning someone heard banging noises from the rear of the business, and police found the hole.

The crooks came into the storage room, and broke holes in the door to the store, but nothing apparently was stolen.

Owner Henry Patel says it will cost them $800 to repair the damage. Crooks also tried to smash holes in the rear wall of the Enmark on Clark Avenue, but were unable to get inside that store.

Anyone with information on either of these cases is asked to call CrimeSTOPPERS at 436-TIPS.
