Package store co-owner charged with selling to minors

The co-owner of an Albany package store has been arrested for selling alcohol to underage buyers. Some were as young as 16 years old.

55 year old Lien Nguyen was arrested by Albany Dougherty Drug Unit agents Monday afternoon around 2:30 at the Winery on Gillionville Road.

Drug Agents say they received several complaints from parents who said teenagers were buying alcohol at the store.

Agents sent undercover teens into the Winery four times in March and April to check.

"Two of the attempts were positive for underage sales to a 16 year old person," said Major Bill Berry with A.D.D.U. And then we had two more attempts that they told us they could no longer do that because the police were watching."

Major Berry said because Nguyen had been cited previously for underage sales. She was arrested on two counts of furnishing alcohol to minors.

The Winery is still open. Charges will be reported to the City Attorney and state licensing board.
