It was do or die for the Cook Hornets Monday.
Thanks to Sam Goberdhan and timely hitting, the answer was most certainly "do."
Goberdhan pitched six innings of shutout ball, while the Hornets stung for four runs in the second en route to a 7-0 win over Screven County.
Cook advances to the Sweet 16 of the AA playoffs, where they will host Toombs County.
After trading scoreless firsts, the Gamecocks loaded the bases with two outs in the top of the second.
Goberdhan pitched his way out of the jam, striking out Bobby Hodges with a breaking ball in the dirt to end the threat.
The Hornets responded in the 2nd, loading the bases with two outs themselves.
Haven McMillan doubled to deep left to clear the bases, and give Cook a lead that would never be threatened.
