SPRINGERVILLE, AZ (CBS5) -

Fire crews have made good progress battling several wildfires in the Apache-Sitgreaves National Forests.

The Cameron Fire, pegged at 307 acres, is 60 percent contained, the U.S. Forest Service said. The fire is south of Luna Lake on the Alpine Ranger District.

The Black Mesa hot shots, two Arizona State Forestry handcrews, multiple engines and a water tender were on the scene.

On Saturday afternoon, the Alpine Fire Department was the first to arrive at a one-acre fire on private property. The U.S. Forest Service was called when strong winds caused the fire to expand to 15 acres onto adjacent national forest lands.

Crews completed a successful burnout, though heat and the potential for spot fires to cross the line still exist.

One person was cited after the Apache County Sheriff's Department found the fire to be human-caused.

The Patricks Pond Fire on the Black Mesa Ranger District was completely contained at three acres by 6 p.m. Sunday, the U.S. Forest Service said. Two helicopters were called to the fire and dipped water from the Black Canyon Reservoir for suppression efforts.

Campers were evacuated but no campgrounds were closed as a result of the fire. The cause is still under investigation.

The Apache-Sitgreaves National Forests is under Stage I fire restrictions. Fires, campfires, charcoal, coal and wood stoves are allowed in developed campgrounds only. Smoking is limited to within enclosed vehicles, buildings, developed campgrounds or three-foot diameter areas cleared of all flammable materials.
