Commissioners briefed on the future of downtown Albany

Dougherty County commissioners get a look at recent and upcoming changes in downtown Albany.

Monday, downtown manager Aaron Blair showed commissioners what has changed over the last few years and what projects are underway to attract more businesses and visitors to downtown.

Blair says their team has numerous goals, including adding new retailers, enhancing outdoor sports and focusing on private sector development.

"Looks like some really good prospects are coming. Hopefully some of those buildings are going to get situated where they can be for rent. They got a bunch of them rented out now. This whole thing is coming together real good and I'm proud of the way it's going," said Commissioner Jack Stone.

Commissioners say downtown has come far in the past 18 months, and they're excited to see what the future holds.
