Dougherty and Worth schools awaiting answer from GHSA

Posted: Updated:
ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

Three schools in our area want a re-classification from the Georgia High School Association.

Albany, Dougherty and Worth County high schools are waiting for an answer after making an appeal to the GHSA Executive Committee in early April.

They say it's unfair that larger schools, Thomas County Central and Bainbridge High School will be allowed to play down a level because of travel concerns. Dougherty and Worth County school leaders want an answer.

"Those schools have been members of the GHSA for many years and loyal members and they deserve answers. Even if it was yes or no and they got no answer at all," said Tommy Coleman.

The schools will examine legal and legislation options, while still seeking answers from the GHSA.
