WALB's former anchor and current news director Dawn Hobby was honored by Mayor Bill Yearta with a key to the city. Dawn grew up in Sylvester and graduated from Worth County High School.
Mayor Yearta said they wanted to honor her for bringing South Georgia the news for nearly 30 years.
"You have always had a special bond to our community and it is with great pleasure that I present to you the key to the beautiful city of Sylvester and congratulations," said Mayor Yearta.
The News on the Road series is celebrating WALB's 60th anniversary. Next Thursday WALB will be live in Ashburn. On May 15th the tour turns to Douglas, and wraps up in Cordele on May 22nd.
