New safety measures at Tift Regional Medical Center

Tift Regional Medical center is working to make a safer environment for their patients and visitors.

Each day, unit managers and department directors gather together for a safety check-in. In the 20 minute huddle, each shares information from their areas on potential risks to safety.

Tift Regional officials say since they began the daily checks in February, they've already seen changes within the hospital.

"We've identified several process concerns that we then modify the process to ensure safety we've allowed for better communication between the departments and it's generated a sense of teamwork," said LeAnn Pritchet, Patient Safety Director.

Staff members are also being encouraged and recognized for catching safety issues and preventing harm.
