Tornado watch extends to south Georgia

Several south Georgia counties are currently under a tornado watch. Severe weather is expected throughout Tuesday and Wednesday with a 5% chance a tornado could develop.

Late Monday Gov. Nathan Deal declared a state of emergency in Georgia, freeing up state resources for storm response.

This same storm system produced multiple tornadoes across Mississippi, Alabama, and Tennessee that left 11 people dead Monday and overnight Tuesday.

At least one tornado touched down late Monday in Troup County, Georgia. No structures were damaged and no injuries were reported.
