Severe weather preps stretches into Cordele

Cordele Public Works crews are also preparing for severe weather and potential flooding.

They were out checking streets today before the heavy rain arrives.

The street superintendent says one road is still washed out from the last heavy rain. They're getting ready to put in replacement pipes.

"Main thing is making sure these storm drains are clean. Because once they get covered with trash and debris and it can't go down into the pipe them it floods the streets out and makes it unsafe," said Koby Worley, street superintendent.

Public works crews will be on standby during the night in case they're needed.
