Fatal Wilcox Co. crash

WILCOX CO., GA (WALB) -

The Georgia State Patrol is investigating after the driver of a pick-up truck, 19-year-old Kayla Altman ran a stop sign and collided with a church van around 10 p.m. Saturday night. Two people inside the van were seriously injured, and one was killed.

The GSP says Altman was headed west on American Legion Rd when she failed to stop. Five people were inside the church van at the time of the crash. 53-year-old Teresa Stanley from Ocilla was killed in the collision.

The driver of the van, Howard Maddix was taken to Dorminy Medical Center in Fitzgerald.  Gloria Gene Mobley was ejected from the van and was air lifted to Macon Medical Center.

Altman and another passenger, Ryan Youngblood, only suffered minor injuries.

The GSP says they have a team investigating the crash, and charges are pending against Altman.

The van belonged to the Victory Tabernacle Church in Abbeville.
