Stay weather aware with the 48 Storm Team

On-air, online and on-mobile, We Track Storms. On-air, online and on-mobile, We Track Storms.
NORTH ALABAMA (WAFF) -

In any weather event, the 48 Storm Team takes the phrase "We Track Storms" to heart. We work across multiple platforms to keep you weather-aware and to get you the vital information you need.

Before and during the approach of storms, you can always track along with us using the 48 Weather App.  The app uses geo-location technology to provide you with storm warnings based on your current location – no programming or setting changes are required. You can also see current radar imagery and more.

You can also sign up for text alerts. Text WAFFSEVERE to 44848 for instructions, or visit our preference center and set up county-specific alerts right away.

The full-featured version of WAFF.com includes many similar features to the weather app for those who may not have access to a smartphone, including:

WAFF 48 also partners with several radio stations across the Valley. When severe weather threatens, our live coverage and updates are simulcast on those stations.

If you have a NOAA weather radio, we offer tips on programming and improving reception on your device.

When the National Weather Service issues warnings, our Facebook and Twitter accounts instantly provide you the information – be sure you like and follow us there.
