Wet weather hurting hay yields, quality

Posted: Updated:
LEESBURG, GA (WALB) -

This year's wet start has Southwest Georgia farmers worried.

"At times they couldn't even get into the field and it hardly gets dry before we get another rain event," said Lee County extension agent Doug Collins. "So we don't have a long enough window to get in the field, get the hay cut, let it dry."

When hay doesn't dry properly is doesn't provide proper nutrients for livestock.
