Developer wants a home for new concrete plant

Bryan Bridges Bryan Bridges

A developer is ready to build a concrete plant in Lee County but he says county leaders are moving slowly.

Lee County commissioners tabled Bryan Bridges' request because of zoning issues. The land is zoned Agriculture but it needs to be zoned Industrial.

Friday, he met with Albany-Dougherty Economic Development Commission leaders about possible locations in Dougherty County.

He says there is a need for the plant.

"The equipment is sitting there and costing me money to standby. We stood by for 2 months and it's getting to the point this concrete plant has to find a home," said Bryan Bridges.

Bridges says when the plant is built, it will create 18 jobs.
