ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

Lake Park Elementary School's archery team is making history.

For the 5th straight year they were invited to the national tournament.

Students say participating in this event not only makes them a better shooter, but also teaches them valuable lessons, like teamwork and leadership. Their coach is very passionate about giving his students another shot to bring home the national championship.

"I am very proud of this group and I'm proud of all the team I've had. From the beginning to now and it doesn't get any easier, I think I'm more nervous than the kids are at tournament time," Coach Jeremy McKinley, Physical Education teacher for Lake Park Elementary.

The national tournament is in Louisville Kentucky on May 8th, 9th, and 10th.

But their biggest challenge right now is funding and if they don't get enough support, they won't be able to go.

If you would like to make a donation you can attend their carwash Saturday April 26th at the corner of Westover and Dawson or attend their yard sale on May 3rd at Merry Acres event center rain or shine.

If you can't attend either of those you can call the school at (229) 431-3370.
